Private Branch Exchange (PBX)

Women using digital telephone connected to a private branch exchange (PBX)

A Private Branch Exchange or PBX is sometimes known as a phone switch or phone switching device, in its simplest form it is a device that connects office telephones in a business with the public telephone network.

The Cirrus PBX system offers solutions to suit many different applications from basic warden call systems to advanced and complex networked or integrated solutions, and is an ideal platform for the delivery of telecare to a wide range of users. The solution we offer has been created to enable customers to choose a migratory path to digital communications as emerging technologies arrive, improving productivity and reducing the cost of a full system upgrade.

Cirrus has years of experience in scoping the requirements for a PBX system and have installed over 1,000 PBX systems nationally.

How can the Cirrus PBX system help your organisation?

Our PBX solution is a resilient technology platform, which uses a modular (Star Wired) infrastructure, so that if one apartment's warden call system were to suffer a fault it would not affect the rest of the system or development, thereby reducing the risk of failure to end users. This differs from many traditional warden call systems that use a radial wired system and rely on the integrity of the whole system to remain in operation.

Features include:

  • tariff free calls within the network encouraging community interaction and helping facilitate social inclusion
  • multi-site networking, so that carer resource can be deployed more effectively
  • call routing so that emergency and administrative calls can be efficiently directed to an appropriate warden or responder whether on or off-site.
